If Tiger Woods 09 was the game i was talking about then most certainly not. Although an impressive game on the Xbox 360 and PS3, (see Sony Playstation PS3 Review) I say impressive, that of course goes to people who enjoy playing a golf game over a shooter. This years edition of the game will most certainly tempt me simply because of the new Nintendo technology. Why on earth would I bother to do this? It’s certainly not because I’m saving money on electric golf trolleys that’s for sure. However it is in fact due to Nintendo facing that in fact their motion sensing technology however amazing it is to five year olds, it just doesn’t work as well as it should. Now Nintendo have let their fans down a lot over the last couple of years with their useless family games that really do not appeal to the fans at all but, with the new MotionPlus part that connects to the bottom of the Wii remote the games will actually start to respond in the way that it should.
This surely makes playing golf games such as Tiger Woods 10 perfect for when it’s a bit stormy out and there is no way your favourite course is going to be open. You get to feel al the stress of a real golfer by deciding on what club to choose, what the wind direction is and how hard you actually have to hit the ball.
The new game which is due out later this year will sell more than than last years edition that much is certain. Being rubbish at golf myself should mean that I would be equally as bad at Tiger Woods but it makes it a lot easier than the real thing and even if you do find yourself failing then you still have the safety knowing that only you and your family will see you fail rather than the whole golf course. As an added bonus you can shout as loud as you want without some old guy moaning at you for being too loud! Although watching someone fail to hit the ball very far on the Wii will be amusing it certainly will not be anywhere close to when I was an assistant greenkeeper at my local golf course and took great pleasure in watching some of the golfers fail miserably.
The best thing of all is that you no longer have to charge golf batteries up, just walk into the room, pick up the remote and have a game!

Has Technology made Life Easier?
We have certainly traveled far along the road of technological improvements - haven’t we? When you pause to consider the technology we have in comparison with days gone by, it is mind boggling, isn’t it?
The modern conveniences that are available to the masses today are incredible. Just a short 100 years back, very few people had cars. In modern times, virtually every person has a car. Some have more than one.
And think about the folks with mobility problems: Powerful stairlifts did not exist 100 years ago. Today there are a range of devices and products available for those who need additional mobility both in a vehicle and at home.
Today’s technology makes it possible for some folks to live a life that would not have been available to them 100 years ago. That is the good part.
Yet, there are still problems to conquer. Gum disease is a problem which is characterized in the beginning by the need to stop bleeding gums. It’s strange to think that we still can not beat simple gingivitis after thousands of years of being plagued by it.
Modern medicine may have slipped a bit on that one. But teeth whitening reviews abound on the Internet today. This is because at-home teeth whitening has become quite popular. This is an item that wasn’t within reach of the common man 100 years ago.
One tip about that: Please do NOT ever try to lighten your teeth with lemon juice – That is an urban legend that should be completely ignored. The lemon juice can cause great damage to your tooth enamel – please never do that.
Medically speaking, it is getting better and better. Heart surgery has advanced. But it leaves me with a sad thought. We should turn our attention to the area that really needs improvement: Prevention.
At the same time, we really should develop our ability to work with nature instead of against. Are there natural substances that can clean our arteries and help us avoid heart surgery in the first place?
Despite that, I’m optimistic. I am left speculating with wild imagination what we might have available to us in the next 60 years or so.I am anticipating the thrill of finding out.
New Video Game Releases – 2009
With so many big releases like Halo Wars and Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X already come and gone, there is a huge amount of games yet to be released this year, so I thought this would be an appropriate post. So, that said, here are some of the games that you should be looking forward to throughout the next coming months and the entire year really.
- Residient Evil 5 is the first one really worth mentioning, however, I personally won’t be buying this game, I just find it stupid how you can’t move and shoot or reload and shoot, but that’s just my opinion. I know that when this one is release on March 13th, it will be a massive hit.
- Crysis: Maximum Edition – This isn’t a new game, but a box set of all the games rolled into one, you get Crysis, Crysis Warhead and Crysis Wars (the multiplayer) and if you haven’t yet played any of them, that will be the perfect box set for you. March 20th is when this game is hitting the shelves.
- Singstar: Queen – March 20th.
- Aliens: Colonial Marines. Not much has been released about this one so far, but considering how good the Alien films are, I have high hopes. Strange release dates though for it, March 27th for PC and then unconfirmed for PS3 and Xbox 360.
- Batman Arkam Asylum. Being a huge Batman fan myself, I hope this is going to be a good one. By the looks of the trailer you have to fight your way around Arkam Asylum to defeat the evil joker, all in rather good graphics. It seems that this is having seperate release dates for the 360 and PS3, however, I am not convinced.
- The Godfather 2 – 10/04
- The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena. If you loved the first Chronicles of Riddick game, then you will love this one. with voices of Vin Diesel and still with a bit of FPS and hand combat involved, it should be a good game. April 24th is when it’s hitting the shops.
- Fuel – I have only seen a few screenshots for this one, and it looks alot like the PS3 game, Motorstorm. Hopefully, it’s going to be a great racing game.
- X Men Origins: Wolverine. We’ll just have to see how good this one is as it is a move game, some are good, some are bad.
- Terminator Salvation – 22/05
- Prototype – A strange one, you play as a genetically modified person who now has super powers, might be good. Set for release in June 2009
- Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction – This game has been in development for a long long time so it really carries alot of expectations but lets hope it will be released when they say this time, June 2009.
- The Sims 3 – Although alot of people play the Sims games, I hate them, simply because I think they have milked it too much. The amount of expansions for the game is insane, but I know people will want to get it, so here it is in the list.
- Ghostbusters – Who ya gonna call? June 19th
- Dirt 2 – 9/09
- Tekken 6 – 25/09
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – This game was only announced recently but it will definitely be a massive hit, with the amount of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’s sold and the amount of awards it picked up, this sequel will hopefully be even better.
- Battlefield: Bad Company 2
It looks like a pretty good upcoming year for games. Hopefully no game developers or publishers will go bust and end up cancelling some games, fingers crossed.
Volunteering To Make A Difference
Big Brothers and Big Sisters matches up kids with well rounded and positive mentors to share in fun activities each week around the world. This can be done locally in the community, or it can be done in such a way to help a child out with school. The program is all about being a friend, and taking the time to work together and make a difference.
How can you become a Big brother or Big sister? Before anyone can become a volunteer in the program and begin the journey of mentoring a child, a very thorough background check must be performed. This is especially important with the nature of the system. Big Brothers and Big Sisters is all about helping kids to have a positive role model, so they can be encouraged to follow their dreams and passions in life.
The process of matching a Big with a child can take some time. People all have different personalities, so by taking the time to go throguh a screening process, it makes the match the best it can possibly be, and allows the child to truly see through their potential.
Making a difference in the community is something that the Big brothers and Big sisters programs have been doing for a while. The program not only encourages the youth, but also helps to give the Big brother or sister more value, and a sense of accomplishment knowing they are affecting the future of a child each week.

What are some of the activities involved with Big Brothers and Big Sisters program? Anything from sports, to caring for animals such as cats and dogs, playing board games on occasion, taking walks in the park, or just plain old hanging out and talking about life’s challenges.
Being that shoulder for the youth of the planet makes a big difference for everyone. So if you haven’t already, why not get involved with Big Brothers and Big Sisters in Marin and Napa by visiting www.bbbs.org for further instructions. It will be a rewarding experience you will never forget.
